All fine points, but Galli is not exactly a martyr. He typifies a lot of white Evangelicals of influence who rode along in the belly of the beast for a long time, and they knew better then too. It's great they finally take a stand, take their lumps, make their exits — probably with a little golden parachute pre-packed. I can think of a few othes in this category, but Galli is someone I had personal, frank correspondence with on these issues 15-20 years ago, and he was full of denial and mitigation then. These folks wanted to ride the conservative movement, the GOP, and the permawar Bush-Cheney types as far as they could. And here we are. They jumped ship finally? What heroes.
